Dr. Gorazd Meško, Associate Professor of Criminology

Introduction

Dr. Meško teaches criminology, victimology and theory of social control at the FCJS, University of Maribor, Slovenia. He is also a member of criminal investigation department of the Faculty of Criminal Justice Sciences at the University of Sarajevo, B&H where he is in charge of a post-graduate module in European Criminology Course.

Dr. Meško's present research interests include studies of fear of crime; victims of crime; drugs, violence and school; local safety efforts; and crime prevention.

He was a visiting scholar at the University of Cambridge, Institute of Criminology (1995) and at the University of Oxford, Centre for Criminological Research (1996, September; 1999, January-February), England. He did a post doc research in 2001-2002 in the field of crime prevention (OSI-HESP grant) in Cambridge, UK. He was also a visiting professor at the School of Criminal Justice GVSU, Grand Rapids, Michigan USA in 2000. He was also a visiting professor at the Faculty of Criminal Justice Sciences in Sarajevo B&H in 2002.

Dr. Meško has written extensively on criminal careers, fear of crime, police officers, crime prevention, corruption, violence and contemporary criminological thought.
