Departments

The departments encompass broader but interrelated subject areas to provide for proper guidance and coordination of educational, scientific and research activities performed by the chairs and to allow for planning and coordination of the development of scientific disciplines and professions.

The Faculty of Criminal Justice and Security has three departments:

• Department of Criminology and Criminalistics
• Department of Security Studies
• Department of Social Studies and Humanities

The work performed by a particular department is organised and managed by the head of the department.

In its separate scientific fields, the departments

• guide and coordinate educational, scientific and research activities of the chairs;
• coordinate the development of scientific disciplines covered by its chairs;
• coordinate scientific and research work on various projects and prepare study and research programs;
• plan and coordinate lifelong learning projects in its field;
• cooperate with the domestic and foreign educational, scientific, research, economic and other organisations, entities, and individuals in the same or related field; and
• perform other tasks and duties pursuant to its administrative acts and decisions reached by the management of the FCJS, University of Maribor.

The Department of Criminology and Criminalistics

The Department of Criminology and Criminalistics comprises:

• chair of criminology (Head: dr. Gorazd Meško) and
• chair of criminalistics (Head: dr. Darko Maver)

The Department of Security Studies

The Department of Security Studies consists of the following chairs:

• chair of intelligence and security studies (Head: dr. Andrej Sotlar),
• chair of security and police organisations management (Head: dr. Iztok Podbregar), and
• chair of information security (Head: dr. Igor Bernik)

Head of Department: dr. Iztok Podbregar.

Department of Social Sciences and Humanities

Department of Social Sciences and Humanities comprise:

• chair of law (Head: dr. Bojan Tičar) and
• chair of social sciences, humanities and methodology (Head: dr. Miran Mitar)
